DYSLEXIA

Dyslexia is...

One of the most common learning disabilities in children. It also is referred to as a Developmental Reading Disorder (DRD). Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability that affects a person when reading, (problems connecting sounds of the language to the letters of the words) writing, (difficulty understanding and creating sentences) and processing certain information such as problem solving tasks. Language is affected when a problem occurs in the brain. Visual problems is not the cause of dyslexia nor is it as simple as mistaking a "b" for a "d". However, dyslexia is a specific information processing problem and it does not interfere with a person's ability to think and understand complex ideas and concepts.
