Ask an Autistic
Looking through the lens of an AutisticAs I explored autism I asked myself; why don't we have more Autistic people speak their truth? Throughout my two years at Wheelock I found out so much about Autism but very rarely through the perspective of an Autistic person. I came across the video below and realized we need more Autistic people speakers. What impacted me the most about this video was knowing that there are organizations like Autism Speaks that don't necessary help Autistic people. In the video we will get a glimpse of what Autism means to this young lady who has Autism and get information about Autism Speaks. She takes the time to research Autism Speaks and explain to how they are not helping Autistic people.
Employment for Autistic PeopleMany Autistic people once they become adults find it very hard to find a full-time job. The should be more jobs for Autistic people who are able to work. There is always something an Autistic person is really good at. They should be given the opportunity to do what makes them happy.Famous People With Autism |
You cannot make a student unautisticPeople should not be trying to find a cure to Autism. This is to pledge or disease, it is genetic and people are simply born with it. There are people donating their loved ones brains after they die to researchers who are trying to find a cure for Autism. Being Autistic simple means seeing the world through different lens. Autistic people can do the work but just need accommodations. Every Autistic person has a talent and something they are good at. There are well known people in history that had Autism. People who are trying to help should be instead looking for ways to provide services and support for people with Autism. They do not need a cure, they need acceptance and understanding. They need more support groups.
Are Autistic people naughty and mad?
