What is an Act Relative to Insurance Coverage for Autism (ARICA)?
ARICA is a Massachusetts law requiring private insurance to cover medically necessary treatment for Autism. It provides coverage for habilitative and rehabilitative care, such as Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy. For more information regarding ARICA, click here.

What Types of Insurance is Subject to ARICA?
  • Fully Funded Private Plans - subject to ARICA.
  • Self-Funded Plans – Not subject to ARICA. Some self-funded plans include ARICA benefits; some plans include coverage for ABA Therapy.
