Autism and Summer Camps

Inquiry Project
Students will select a single topic in special education. They will investigate and provide a digital reference tool that will showcase important information and strategies for educators. The focus can be on a specific disability, a specialize strategy, research in learning, or other approved special education topic of interest.
Weebly Product will include:
a. Description of Disability: (etiology, characteristics (including any related health issues), incidence and prevalence, affect on development, medical interventions, …). Include a video, images and short text content with web resources for further information. Description of Intervention/Theory: Include a video, images, examples, and short text content with web resources for further information.
b. Learning (academic and social) How does this disability affect learning (impact on communicating, socially interacting, learning (auditory, kinesthetic, visual)? How can we support learning and increase strengths? (classroom accommodations/modification recommendations, common related services, technology supports for learning and communicating) http://olc.spsd.sk.ca/de/pd/instr/categ.html (consider type of instruction). Description of Intervention/Theory: Include how this intervention or theory will support learning for students with disabilities.
Bibliography: All references and resources should be clearly available on the Weebly. Digital images of the books, links to articles, YouTube video links, graphs, images, short summary, resources… should all be included on you Weebly page.

n. Medical research for prevention, remediation, and cure.
Presentations will be organized in a protocol led, small group dialogue. The conversation will last no longer than 10 minutes. Be prepared to be concise and bring out the essential information for teaching practice, student learning, and inclusion. You will be using the website to support your discussion.
